Saturday, January 18, Montreal, Bell Center. In a WBC light heavyweight title eliminator and in front of 21 000 fans, Jean Pascal finally back up all the talk by winning a significant unanimous decision over his rival Lucian Bute. The wild electricity provided by the crowd was by far the best since the Ouellet- Hilton trilogy. Boxing fans were divided on this night, some cheered for Pascal, Most for Bute. When all as been said and done, Jean Pascal won a well deserved unanimous decision of 116-112, 118-110 and 117-111.

Many people were in shock as Pascal dominated the former IBF super middleweight champion. Indeed, Pascal rocked Bute with large number of powerful right hands. It’s sad to notice how gunshy Bute was during the main event, Carl Froch clearly psychologically damaged the Romanian superstar ins may 2012. Since then, Bute has not been the same in the ring, too afraid to throw punches, because he’s too afraid to be caught between two punches. The crowd favorite came alive in the last round of the fight, too little too late.

On the other hand, the former WBC light heavyweight champion fought a perfect battle. With the great Roy Jones Jr in his corner, inspiration and determination gave Pascal the energy he needed to humiliate Bute. On at least three occasions, Lucian knees buckled after those sizzling rights Pascal threw. Pascal obviously didn’t want to disappoint his hero and the crowd. The future looks bright for him.
